Ben Tuck collects RSF MSA Young Driver of the Year 2015!
Fresh from a shakedown test in his 2016 Caterham Supersports race car, Ben joined a glittering array of the UK Motorsports finest at the prestigious MSA Night of Champions held at the historic Royal Automobile Club in London as he accepted the 2015 Racing Steps Foundation Motor Sports Association Young Driver of the Year award from RSF Director Derek Walters.
The ‘Silver Fox’ trophy was presented to Ben by BBC’s Steve Ryder and Louise Goodman. It has been awarded to many of the UK’s top young drivers in previous years who have gone on to be successful champions at the highest levels of motorsport.
The title was awarded on the basis of his impressive on track results during 2015 in which Ben secured 3rd in the BRSCC Mazda MX-5 Championship taking the title battle down to the last few laps of the final race in what was his first full year of racing. 2015 was truely a year of firsts for Ben – first full season, first pole position, first podium, first win, first international race and class win, first endurance race, and first night race. Along the way he netted 3 wins, 6 podiums, 17 top five finishes and 3 fastest laps – one of those around the legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium.
To prove himself worthy of the title, Ben went up against nominees for the award in a five way shootout at the iZone Performance Centre at Silverstone. During the day judges put the drivers through their paces in several activities – driving simulators with eye trackers, interviews, physical assessments and psychological profiling.
After being chosen as the 2015 RSF MSA Young Driver of the Year, Ben said was he was honoured to be selected.
